This is a book of exegetical essays centered for the most part on the figure of Jesus. The first essay introduces the reader to a type of literature (apocalypticism) which provides a key for understanding correctly what the evangelists are trying to tell us concerning the beginning of Jesus’ ministry: his baptism at the Jordan and his subsequent temptations in the desert. The next three essays are an attempt to answer the question: why the Bible miracles? Then the next essay analyzes Jesus’ very nuanced attitude towards law and tradition.
