Understanding the Scriptures: Semester Edition (Didache)

Sacred Scripture is an inspired and infallible record of God's self-Revelation to his people and the gradual unfolding of his plan of salvation.  This text explains how to read Sacred Scripture with the Church and presents overviews of the books of the Bible and their importance to the teachings of the Church.  It also shows how the covenants and promises that God made with his people in the Old Testament are fulfilled by the New Covenant in Jesus Christ, who is the Word of God. 

This book, Understanding the Scriptures, corresponds to Elective A: Scripture in the curriculum framework.

The Didache Semester Series is a series of high school textbooks, teacher's manuals, and student workbooks published by Midwest Theological Forum. Each title spans one academic semester. These titles have been developed according to the 2007 curriculum framework from the USCCB Subcommittee on the Catechism to assist in the publication of religious education textbooks for Catholic high schools.

This textbook is an abridged edition of the same title in the Didache Complete Course Series. That edition has been granted ecclesiastical approval from the Archdiocese of Chicago, and it has been granted conformity with the Catechism of the Catholic Church by the USCCB Subcommittee on the Catechism.
