The God whose Joy is in Forgiving

In the Old Testament, God made a covenant with the People of Israel. It was a marital covenant. Unfortunately, the Chosen People kept on violating this marriage bond every time they committed idolatry. That is why the worst sins of God's People were idolatry and adultery. In a remarkable way, however, Jesus showed in the gospels the boundless love, mercy, and compassion of God precisely in his encounters with adulterous women. This means only one thing: moments of sin can also be moments of grace. And this gives us so much hope! Indeed, the Holy Bible begins with the story of creation, then with the Fall, but ends with the wedding of the Lamb, with grace, with joy! In the last chapter and verse of the Book of Revelation, the apostle John proclaims, "The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you all" (Rv 22:21).
