Manuscript Submissions

While St Pauls Publications is a Catholic publishing house, we are open to publishing works by authors from various Christian denominations. We publish books on scripture, liturgy, prayer and spirituality, St Mary MacKillop, family and the Australian Church. Our publishing is oriented towards a general adult readership. We also offer range of children's stories and activity books. We do not publish poetry.

We are not able to publish scholarly works likely to attract a limited readership.

Most of our titles are commissioned. However, we do accept some unsolicited manuscripts.

We receive several manuscripts and proposals for consideration each week. We acknowledge materials received as quickly as we can. We then commence an evaluation process that can last from 6-8 weeks. We ask authors not to contact us during that time.

Proposals or finished manuscripts for consideration must be submitted as hard copy (we are not able to accept manuscripts by e-mail, or texts sent as CDs) to the Editorial Director, St Pauls Publications, P O Box 906, Strathfield NSW 2135

Brief submissions of no more than five pages can be emailed to

We will not consider manuscripts that have been submitted simultaneously to a number of publishers. We are not prepared to invest in the evaluation of a manuscript only to have it withdrawn at a late stage in the process because another publisher has taken it up.

If you wish to have a proposal or a finished manuscript considered for publication by St Pauls Publications please send the following:

1. A brief letter telling us why you have approached St Pauls Publications in particular as a possible publisher.

2. A proposal that will include the following elements:

  • Content: 1-2 pages telling us what the book is about.
  • Target readership: who are you writing for?
  • A table of contents, with a line or two describing the contents of each chapter.
  • A line or two about you, and your qualifications for writing the book.
  • A line or two about the possible competition, ie books at a similar level and aimed at a similar readership.
  • The extent and (if the work is not yet completed) the estimated delivery date.

3. A sample chapter (not the complete manuscript).

4. Don't forget to include a stamped, self-addressed envelope if you wish to have the material returned. Please send your submission to:
